Lo, you don't know me, but I ran across your post and had a laugh. I just posted this in my LJ:

B and I were anxiously awaiting the opening of the new Harris Teeter by our house for months. When the grand opening finally came a couple of weeks ago B said he thought he heard the angels sing when he walked through the doors. I think I heard them too.

It's not that I don't appreciate having the cheap Food Lion up the road. It's just that the Food Lion is dirty. Kinda grungy. Old. And their produce is usually kinda sad looking and wilted. And their selection of organic and natural foods is, well, barely there. And their customer service stinks. Never enough registers open and staff that look like they just grew opposable thumbs last week.

You walk into the new Teeter and all the employees are neat and pretty and clean and friendly and smiling. The fruits and veggies are beautiful and they have lots to sample. They have a salad bar and hot soup. A Starbucks. Gourmet items. Lots of organic stuff. Things like soybeans and tahini that Food Lion never heard of. Shampoos and make-up I might actually use. Self checkouts. It's like a whole different world from the sucky store across the street!

So in Cary we have the Taj Ma Teeter. Down Jones Franklin we have the Ghetto Teeter. We decided the Swift Creek HT needed a name too.

It has now been christened...

The Pearly Teeter.

And there you have it!
You need to visit Ukrop's in Richmond. Ukrop's is the greatest grocery store "in history".

The "Teeter" is good. I'll agree.

Lest not forget the customer service at the Food Dog. Do you ever feel like some times they under-staff the registers on purpose?

It's the Garner Teeter!

First there was the Shitty Teeter, on Crapital Boulevard. It was the very first teeter! But alas, it is no longer. It was so shitty they eventually had to tear it down.

There's the Teeter Mahal, or as some call it, the Taj Mateeter. Back in its heydey my sister used to take out-of-towners there to gawk at its gargantuan size.

My sister, Claire, actually prefers to shop at an older teeter in a dimly lit strip mall next to a pool hall. There are less stoplights to get there and less crowds. It is the Claire Teeter.

There's the Geriatric Teeter on Glenwood Avenue. You'll have to fight off a blue hair for a pint of strawberries in May.

And finally, the Cary Towne Teeter, adjacent to the Cary Towne Center. They give good change there.
