I am a woman of 51 and I am glad you have posted this on line for everyone to see. I decided to get on line to try the dating sites due not being into the bar scene's and you know how the friend introduces you to a friend goes. *LOL Although I have not been scammed as of yet because I refuse to pay someone to meet someone on line when there are free sites. I would just delete my profile. Although I had many men email me and try the scam on me. Pictures of nice looking older men my age and even ones that were up to 10 yrs. younger, me knowing all along, most........not all, but most real men go for the younger women no matter how much the woman may look nice. I found after only a few emails they were in love, yeah,,,,,,,right. I didn't get to my age without learning something.*LOL Well, there are a lot of men on line doing this scam and usually get caught and removed from the sites. I am sure there are lots of women too doing this. Just remember the old saying,if it sounds too good to be true, then it is just that. Hope this helps out some of you guys out there, and women.

To follow-up on the previous comment: it's all well and good to try to track down people who have scammed you, but it's horrible to harass an innocent person who happens to have the same name. I'll delete any unsubstantiated addresses that appear in this comment thread from now on.

ATTENTION everyone who is on this comment chain. There are more Peter Ericksons in MN than the creep you are trying to track down.

I am one of them AND I have received some pretty brutal phone calls which I have reported to authorities.

Please do more research than a Dexonline search. You are just affecting OTHER innocent people and their families.

I am sorry that someone scammed you out of money but it wasn't me.

I had the same experience as the guys above with Geek 2 Geek. I signed up with a promo deal ($40 for six months or something). Two days before they auto-renewed (which I'm pretty damn sure I didn't agree to) I got an obviously fake wink (23-year-old model who's heartbroken and love sex but lives 1,000 miles away... yeah right).

As for the auto-renew, apparently you have to actively go into your account to turn it off, 'cuz it's on by default. $90 later, I've learned my lesson. While I did get one good date out of G2G, between the auto-renew scam and the fake wink scam, I've canceled and will never go back.

I joined Geek 2 Geek so as to be able to exchange info with fellow movie and music buffs (my friends get sick of me talking about film noir and The Simpsons, and Russian Lit) I agreed to pay for just one month to try it out. I didn't realize they signed me up for an automatic renewal. And I am pretty darn certain I didn't click the little box for that option. They of course charged me before my first one month subscription was complete and refused to refund me for the second charge even though I terminated my account before the next month was due to start.

Thanks for this site: whomever created it. I signed up for HeartDetectives.com and have received 4 winks and 10 emails from some great looking women. Have winked back and decided to do some checking before paying any money. Well, I won't be signing up for HeartDetectives, thanks to everyone's posts here. There are some pretty good free dating websites:

datehookup.com / connectingsingles.com / plentyoffish.com / mingle2.com / christianet.com

The best one I'd have to say is: datehookup.com--I've made some friends on there, two women in Tennessee. Christianet.com is a pretty good website: have lady friends from Scotland, Ukraine, Arizona, and New York. There are two that I've paid for with no luck: christiancafe.com and adultfriendfinder.com. Someone on christiancafe.com emailed me and she is nuts.

Another one to be wary of is "Geek 2 Geek," the hipster/geek oriented website. I found out about it through a link to an IMDB article. Seemed a good idea, a place where you could find down-to-earth girls into stuff like movies, music, comics, that kind of thing, right? Well, after receiving 3-4 "Winks" from people who were SUPPOSEDLY interested in me, but who'd nonetheless NEVER respond when I wrote them back to follow up (and bear in mind, I had to PAY to renew a monthly membership to do so), I knew that something was up... especially, when I noticed that the "Winks" were coincidently coming about exactly 1-year after the last one did. So essentially, the website was using someone's profile--which might not have even BEEN a real profile--to send (or make it look like this person had sent) a Wink, to keep me paying to reply. What sucks is I spent some time being confused and mad by the girls themselves, wondering why they'd wink me and not respond. Oh well, just save your own time and money, and don't fall into the same trap (for that, or ANY other dating website...).

I didn't thought it was that bad to be honest. But now I am somehow frightened to join any dating site at all.
Any recommendations?
I did make a free profile on finduslove and the next thing I know I was getting messages from women but on heartdectives. I found that to be very strange. Now I get about one new message every 3 or 4 days. Of course you can not see a good picture of those people or send them a message until you pay.

I have not paid and I won't. I never got a good feeling from that or Match.com or any site where you have to pay. Americansingles.com was not bad, but why pay when you have such cool free sites like MySpace.com or Friendster.com or even Bangme.net, which is not a sex site regardless of the name. Faceparty.com is okay too... these are not necessarily dating sites, but it is a FREE way to come across people.

So guys... and gals... why pay?
Besides, from experience... you usually don't find love when you look for it.

Another scam to look out for... really hot babes on HOTorNOT... usually from a different country other than the US... will scam for money or whatever they can get. Don't waste your time!

It is unfortunate that people have to scam honest people who just want to find love. I thought about making a REAL site with REAL people and not becoming rich from it. You shouldn't have to pay in order to meet quality people!

I appreciate this site and almost signed up for "Heart Detectives" simply because I had email and after checking my profiles there, I had an incomplete profile and no picture posted. In fact, I had no description of myself posted and yet I had eight emails in my inbox. Being rational, I did a back ground check on Google and found this forum and another about heartdetectives.com. Their site is just like Match.com and I feel it's a total scam. Plentyoffish.com is the best because it's free and I have had more luck atleast in getting replies from women there.

Peter Erickson dba Texpo Inc. is at it again with VeryHotLove.com. This site leads you to Heartdetectives.com, and I too was ripped off. As soon as I payed, the messages from other "Members" stopped. I called CCBill.com, and told them they should check out who they are doing business with, as I am sure a savvy lawyer could sue them too. The operator promised to tell the higher-ups. He also said I'd been issued a refund. We'll see.

Here's the toll-free phone number for www.heartdetective.com. I called and cancelled. I received an e-mail confirmation of the cancellation the same day. The operator will ask you to repeat your information, including your credit card number and address.

Has anyone thought about suing this individual, a class action law suit? I would also go after CCBill for participating and profiting in the scam. I think all of this would be possible since weÂ're dealing with an individual within the country unlike the overseas scams.

Jason

I would like to see all of you go out and fill out this complaint form to the IFCC and FBI. Get this snake invesigated. Include the link to this forum in your complaint and explain point out the places in this forum where it describes how you were redirected to another site, scammed, etc.. and how it was done illegally via another site like Match.com and the illegal usage of some poor girl's picture without her permission. All of these are Federal offenses and various types of fraud.

This is the link to the government site that specializes in this:
http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp

Here also is the link to the Minnesota Consumer Affairs... they should be sent a complaint as well:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/links/mn.htm

I have sent complaints... however, I caught onto the act from the match.com profile before I ever paid the weasle any money for his site... and since I technically wasn't defrauded for money... I can only point you guys in the right direction and hope some of you are as good as explaining this stuff to the authorities as I am. If you aren't... get someone to help you explain it. I know you may not have lost much more than $25 or $30.. but go to the effort anyway on principle... the guy took us all for suckers and thinks you are all too wimpy to turn him in nor smart enough to help catch him. Prove him wrong...

Steve

Guess what Heart Detectives is still at it. They have women post on match.com, send out winks and let people know that they are also listed on Tasty Lovers .com which redirects you to HD. Then their profile disappears a few days later. People like this need to be shot, drawn and quatered. If anybody starts ANY type of lawsuit count me in. I Have the bogus emails and a ton of info for proof. So glad I found this website.

I suffered the same fate with heartdetective as many of you: many emails, then none after I paid, and none answered, once I contacted them as a member. I didn't catch on until I kept getting the bill on my credit card without my authorization. Thanks for the warning. I realize I've been scammed now. Maybe no one gets a lawyer because it's only 25 a month. Be careful of another website, eurolove.biz and the same site but different name, chat112.com. This site charge me for a day, but after logged off and came back in an hour, the authorization for me had expired. THEN, I was charged for a month without my authorization and I could not even log in. After threatening the people with going to the legal system, they refunded the unauthorized charge.
THanks again!

I'm glad so many people are finding their way here.

One thing everyone can do is report each bogus user to match.com, using their on-line customer support form. Hopefully if they hear enough about it, they'll actually start putting in some filters for this kind of thing. I reported a couple of users and got a form-letter back saying that those users had been booted, but I don't know if there have been any systemic changes.

As far as a lawsuit goes, I'm not sure. I haven't suffered any damages myself, other than perhaps some "mental anguish". I'd be glad to participate and provide information, but I never went far enough with finduslove to gather any hard evidence of a scam. If anyone out there feels like they want to pursue it, I'd say talk to a lawyer; or, if you want to try going after the perpetrator on criminal grounds, contact the FBI.

Not often I get scammed...but Im guilty of falling for the wink. Damn the luck! Just so you have complete records to use for the BBB I'll give them to ya'll .. be gentle with the flaming. On 4/21/05 received wink on match.com from tryrenee123...again her profile referred to finduslove.com (checked and it still does currently, also saved a copy of page). I signed up at heartdetctives.com for a free profile and just like other peeps said two Emails from Hottbratt and funwithme showed up. Of course I signed up! and lost the $25, oh well easy come easy go. My login on heartdetectives.com was kennedy101 which has now been cancelled. If anyone needs my match.com login for evidence they can email me. Good catch ya'll! Hope this Peter guy gets his butt in jail! Even better I hope match.com files charges!!! --justin
