The Guys
Tuesday, 2005 July 12 - 11:31 pm
Reeking of guyness today. But it wasn't all me.

So I went out with some guys tonight, because it was Pint Night again. I would say "THE Guys", not just "SOME guys", except they weren't MY guys. You know how it is when you go out with a bunch of people and you only really know one of them, but everyone else knows each other? That's how it was tonight.

We ate, and we shot some pool, and I flirted with the waitresses again. (Christie, this time, not Kendra.) At the bar, one of the TVs had Fox News on (ugh), and they were talking about that Aruba thing. I made a remark about how Aruba's tourism trade must be suffering. Their new slogan? "Aruba: Now, with 0.5% less rape". The marketing guys are still fine-tuning that one.

I guess it was a pretty good night. I keep saying I need some guy friends, and the guys there tonight were a pretty decent bunch. They invited me to a week at the beach in August... I'm not sure I'm quite ready for THAT sausage party, though.

Best news of the day: Michelle Wie advanced to the match-play portion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links tournament. (This assures me that I will get another couple thousand web site hits over the next few weeks, with people looking for her picture.) Asshat Fellow competitor Danny Green said, "I don't think she should be here... I think she should play in the women's tournaments because they don't let the men play in the women's tournaments." Of course he's just jealous because even though he tied for second in the medal play rounds, Michelle Wie has 500 fans following her around, and he had just TWO. And one of them is his mom. And the other one is his other mom.

But props to Michelle's playing partner today, Ed McDugle, who said: "She teed it up with the men and if the men don't like it, they should have beat her." Damn right.
