American Idol 2009 Week 11: Top 2
Tuesday, 2009 May 19 - 10:37 pm
Danny went home last week. It's Kris and Adam, in perhaps the most lopsided matchup in Idol history. If Kris wins this, it'll be a huge upset.

Adam Lambert
Starts off with "Mad World" from week 5. It was good then, and it's still good; but the second time around, it seems like more of a safe pick than an adventurous one. 9.

Kris Allen
He picks "Ain't No Sunshine" from week 4. Like Adam, he's chosen one of his best performances as a reprise. Still good. 9.

Adam Lambert
Producer's choice: "Change is Gonna Come". A surprisingly good choice from the producer; a bit gospel-y and soulful. But, hmm, there he goes with that over-the-top shrieking, which I think is contrary to the bluesy spirit of the song. Kara and Paula think it's a great interpretation; I disagree. 8.

Kris Allen
Producer's choice: "What's Goin' On". It's not my favorite song choice, but he's doing pretty well. At this point, he's showing more commercial appeal than Adam. 8.

Adam Lambert
"No Boundaries"... co-written by Kara. Sounds like a Celine Dion song. Hmm. It's like he doesn't quite know what to do with this. His rendition is a bit, well, girly. A couple of high notes go pitchy, but otherwise it's vocally pretty good. He'd never have a hit with this song, but that's not exactly his fault. 7.

Kris Allen
And, "No Boundaries" again. Eek, he's way off key, and this song is way too big for him. He can't come close to Adam trying to sing this straight, and he shouldn't have tried. That being said, I don't know that this will necessarily cost him any votes... he's got his fans regardless. 6.

It's much closer than I expected; but I still think Adam will win.
