Anna Nicole Smith's baby daddy is revealed; Don Imus' makes a dumb remark; Johnny Hart dies. So Larry Birkhead is the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. Yeah. There are two really sad things about this whole affair: one, in twenty years, 2007 will probably be more remembered for Anna Nicole Smith than it will be for the presidential race. Two, the main reason so many guys were eager to prove their paternity is just because the little girl is in line to inherit large sums of money. How messed up do you think this girl will end up? Think Paris Hilton or worse. Don Imus is never going to live down the fact that he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as a bunch of "nappy-headed hos". The team members and the black community are understandably upset about the comment. But there's an unintended consequence of all the ruckus that's been raised: the phrase "nappy-headed hos" is rapidly entering the popular lexicon, and it will likely be repeated over and over and over again in the coming years. Current number of Google matches for that phrase? 1.36 million. (Plus one.) Johnny Hart, the creator of the comic stream "B.C.", died at the age of 76 on Saturday. Now, you know, I feel for the guy's family and friends, but I totally resented having Christian propaganda pushed at me on the funny pages. Comics are supposed to be funny. Most of the time, "B.C." was pretty good. But every now and then, we'd get a religious message with no comic value whatsoever. Look, if you're going to relegate Doonesbury to the editorial section of the paper, then "B.C." should go there too. Don't even get me started on "Mark Trail". |
