Happy St. Patrick's Day
Thursday, 2005 March 17 - 10:57 pm
Today I'm celebrating my Irish heritage.

So I had planned to go out tonight, with the green beer and the pinching and the "Danny Boy" and all. But, I decided to be LAME instead, and stay home.

Okay, it's not just lameness. First, if I had gone out, I probably would have gotten too plowed to write anything today, and would have meant neglecting my Dear Internet Readers. Second, I'm running an NCAA basketball pool, and I have to keep up with the results. Third, no one else seemed to be available to go out tonight, and I didn't want to just hang out at the pub by myself. I guess that last one ties in with the lameness thing.

So I had my own little Irish celebration here at home. I made myself giant pub-style burgers. Here are some signs that you've made a really great burger:

- Smoke fills the entire house.
- You are unable to open your mouth wide enough to take a proper bite of the burger.
- After eating the burger, your face is covered with mustard and cheese and burger juices.
- You go ahead and eat the second burger that you had planned to save until tomorrow.
- You convince yourself that it's not lame that you stayed at home on St. Patrick's Day.

Oh, and of course, let's not forget the Guinness. There be Guinness here! Ahhhh.

Next year I think I will have a St. Patrick's Day party. I think it's a good day to have a party because there's really no other holiday that celebrates drinking quite to the same degree. (Oh sure, there's New Year's Eve, but that holiday also has all that damn kissing, and you know how I feel about that.) Sarah, can I count on you showing up?
