Dating Update: Breaking All The Rules | Wednesday, 2005 August 17 - 11:56 pm |
Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal... You know all those online dating guidelines I wrote last time? Ummm... Tonight I had a really fantastic first date. The new girl's nickname on this blog will be The WHB, and she even gave me permission to post a picture, in which my extra chin is making a proposition to her dimples: What's amazing about The WHB is that her on-line profile under-promised and over-delivered. She was far more charming and better looking than her profile suggested, and that puts her in a distinct minority on the web site that rhymes with BEEEYATCH Not Calm. I broke my own rules by letting the date go on for hours past the prescribed ending point. I also said I wouldn't write about any of this until things progressed further. Well, screw all that, I'm somewhat drunk and I'm happy and I'm throwing away the rulebook (for now). I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it's fair to say that I'm optimistic about the possibilities. In case you're wondering: yes, I did give The WHB the address of my web site. And I'm going to send her the permalink to this post, once I'm done writing it. It did occur to me that it would make for better blogging if something were to go comically wrong with all of this, and if I remained single for the next hundred years. I can think of at least three readers who would prefer it that way. If I were getting a hundred thousand readers a day, and all of them were waiting for tragic and funny dating stories, I might be inclined to consider sacrificing my personal life for the sake of entertainment. But, such as things are now, I think I have to pursue the opportunities that fall in front of me. Stay tuned for more updates. |

You better be nice to her. She is a pretty cool chick. And you can tell her that I said so. I would imagine that I am the only princess she knows :) |
