BlogHer? I Don't Even Know Her!
Tuesday, 2005 June 21 - 11:59 pm
A blogging conference for women, and about women. Seems like just the thing for me.

So lots of folks are talking about the BlogHer conference coming up in July, in Santa Clara, California.

It's a day-long conference/seminar about women's blogging issues. Dooce will be a featured guest. Finslippy and Fussy are trying to convince Melissa to go. Vindauga's now thinking about going.

Naturally, my first thought was: a ten-to-one female-to-male ratio, plus an assload of alcohol, should make for a pretty good time. Of course, my roommate in college thought that too when he signed up for a Women's Studies course, and it didn't turn out nearly the way he expected.

But seriously... those of you who know me know that I'm actually pretty interested in women's issues, and I think this might be an interesting experience. It is open to men, and they're even trying to encourage more men to participate. I do have a wee bit of fear that in the middle of one of the discussions, an Ellen Jamesian will stand up, point at me, and shout "ARP!"

I don't know. Maybe I'll go. Of course, it would be much more fun if another blogger went with me. Or would that be a little bit awkward?

I'll need to think about this.

Ellen Jamesian -- tee hee ;-)

In the land of sad near misses, I'll be in the Bay Area two weeks before the conference.

Obviously you must come. If only so I can try to guess who you are and yell ARP at you in a crowded room :)

Oh, that's right. I won't have to guess because we'll have those silly badges on lanyards around our necks. Mwa ha ha.
