Album: Avril Lavigne - Under My Skin | Sunday, 2004 July 11 - 12:30 pm |
Avril's sophomore album seems safe and studio-sanctioned. Avril Lavigne, once hailed as the next Alanis Morrisette and the anti-Britney, has put out her second album "Under My Skin". In contrast to "Let Go", this album is more polished; it's straight-ahead, teen-friendly, mainstream pop rock, without quite as much of the "Sk8er Boi" alternative attitude. This album is likely to have wide appeal, and it's easy to listen to, but for me, it lacks the edge and uniqueness that made Avril appealing to begin with. On her first album, Avril proudly noted she'd rather be "Anything But Ordinary". I'm not sure she lived up to that pledge here. Rating: 3/5 |
