Television: American Idol - The Girls | Tuesday, 2005 February 22 - 10:59 pm |
Tonight it was the girls' turn. Before I talk about the girls, I'd like to defend myself a little, about why I like "American Idol". First, I appreciate singing. It's so rare that I run into someone who can really sing. I mean, there are lots of people that can carry a tune, but to find someone with pitch, breath control, range, and tone... we're talking about one in five thousand people, at best. I consider myself better than average in the music department, but I know that I still can't sing worth crap. Second, I like the way Simon Cowell dismantles the egos of people who think so highly of themselves. Few things annoy me more than braggadocio. Sometimes he's a little harsh to people... but sometimes they deserve it. So okay, about the American Idol girls... first, they're all pretty darn HOT. As a man, it's hard for me not to judge them based on looks. But I know, also, that lots of fans will base their opinions on appearance, so I'll have to take that into account. That being said, I predict that the best-looking girl, Amanda Avila, will probably not be a finalist in the end. She doesn't have the talent or charisma to make it all the way. I think we'll see Carrie Underwood, Lindsey Cardinale, and Nadia Turner at the end. All of them are really pretty, and they're unique in their own ways. The other performers were rather forgettable, just like the bulk of the guys. Two people whom I predict will be cut early: Jessica Sierra and Mikalah Gordon. Jessica is not quite talented enough, and Mikalah will get on people's nerves. So that's it. As I said before, I promise not to write about "American Idol" again until near the end of the show. But I'll be watching closely, because I AM A FREAK. Get used to it. |

Okay, I can't resist commenting. Janay Castine will probably go soon; she's too young and too scared. Aloha Mischeaux may go too. But Mikalah Gordon made a HUGE improvement this week; she had a near-flawless performance. She may suddenly vault into the lead. |

Okay, we're down to the final twelve, and I stand by my predictions for the top three girls. Jessica Sierra should be the next to be eliminated. |
