Another Stay-At-Home Friday
Friday, 2005 April 15 - 7:06 pm
It's probably not a good idea to go out drinking while trying to recover from an illness.

It'll be a quiet Friday evening here. I'm hoping to go to a wine-tasting event in Cary tomorrow, so I need to heal and rest up as best I can tonight.

Besides, seeing as how the plunging stock market has cost me an amount in the neighborhood of five figures in the past couple of days, I'm in the mood to penny-pinch tonight. I suppose I should be thankful that I can absorb losses of that magnitude, but still, I spent the day saying OW OW OW as I watched the stock ticker go by. I have to say, Wall Street is STUPID sometimes. I mean, Apple Computer announces record quarterly sales and profits, and the stock plunges by nearly 20%? Geez.

But I guess I understand why the rest of the market is falling. Rising budget deficits and trade deficits, rising interest rates, rising oil prices, rising inflation... none of this is good news. THANKS A LOT, DUBYA.

At least I think I'm starting to get over this mysterious illness that I had. I still feel kind of logy, but I'm functional. I went to work today and actually got a few things accomplished, during the intervals when I wasn't watching stock tickers.

If I don't end up zonking out after dinner, I may try to do some much-needed housework. Whee! I'm such a party animal. Is it any wonder I'm still single?

I'm blaming everything on Dubya. Everything! Laundry not done? It's Dubya's fault, I was too busy being annoyed at the Patriot Act! Tub needs cleaned? It must be because Dubya is cutting programs because of funding issues after cutting taxes for the last umpteen years! And you know, if the Patriots have a losing season next year, you had better believe I'm blaming Dubya for that, because when they visited the White House this week, Dubya said to them "So, I'll probably see you guys back here next year!" It's the Dubya curse!

As you can clearly see, I have issues.
