The Experiment | Saturday, 2005 June 4 - 1:55 pm |
Today's activities, and the long-awaited community blogging experiment. Yesterday I missed a day of blogging, and I'm sorry, Internets. After going out last night to see Vaughan Penn, there was just no room in my head for any topics because it was too full of beer. Tonight it's possible that something similar will happen, because I'll be having dinner with GunGirl and then seeing the sold-out Rilo Kiley concert. But no, this won't be a date either. Oh, and of course, I should get to meet Pinky tonight! Hooray! Today I'll be spending the afternoon detoxing, so I can be prepared to, um, retox in the evening. That means a quiet day of reading, TV-watching, and computer tinkering. I probably should be working on my weekend chores (house-cleaning and yard work), and I probably should go running, but how can I do those things while I have beer slowly seeping out of my pores? And my other orifices? I was supposed to come up with a community blogging topic for this weekend, and I've been thinking about it for a while. I didn't want it to be just a quiz or something similarly meme-like... I wanted it to be more creative, along the lines of the down-the-rabbit-hole some folks did a while ago, for Lewis Carroll's birthday. So here's my idea. There's a funny little quip floating around the Internet called "The Cat's Diary", and it goes like this: Day 751: My captors continue to torment me with bizarre dangling objects. They eat lavish meals in my presence while I am forced to subsist on dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of eventual escape -- that, and the satisfaction I get from occasionally ruining some piece of their furniture. Your task is to write another entry in the Cat Diary. It can be as short or as long as you like. You can follow the theme of the tormented cat in captivity, or make your own story. Put it in your blog, then add a comment or trackback below with the link to it. For you LJ users, don't forget that the entry must be public so everyone else can see it! If I get enough of them, I'll try to piece them all together into a short story, to be posted later. Miaow! |

Heh, I saw a door mat like the cat diary once, only written by a dog. I was going to buy it, but the store wanted $20 for it. |
