Ahhh
Tuesday, 2005 June 14 - 11:59 pm
See, I was right about the alcohol.

So, after not having a drop to drink all weekend, I've fallen back off the wagon tonight. Or perhaps even under the wagon. Right now, it's only the steady advice of my Dear Internet Audience that's preventing me from sending e-mails to all the women I know.

Tonight, I played cards tonight with my card-playing friends, and it's state law that I drink beer while playing cards. That law, for some reason, only applies to ME. But look at all the good things that happen when I drink beer! I win at cards. The Pistons win their basketball game. My gardenias are blooming. The only bad thing I can think of is the fact that the Backstreet Boys are releasing a new album this week, and that will only exacerbate my ear-bleeding problems.

Speaking of ear-bleeding conundrums: if Alain Nu and David Blaine were to engage in a duel of magic, to the death, who would win?

(a) Alain Nu
(b) David Blaine
(c) The television viewing public

See, I hate magicians and the way they act like it's REALLY magic, and that there's not actually some trick to what they're doing. Their message is, "You're not smart enough to figure out what I'm doing, SUCKER." But you know what? Most of the time, I do know. Once when I was about thirteen, at some tourist exhibit at the Grand Canyon, some performer tried to fool me with a Three Card Monty routine, and I figured out the gimmick. I found the ace every time, and I so enjoyed making him look like an idiot. I tried to feel bad for the guy, but it was his job to make ME look like a fool, so why shouldn't I be allowed to turn the tables?

Someday I'll make a video to demonstrate for you that levitation trick that David Blaine does. It's actually pretty simple.

Dude, I completely want to know about the Three Card Monty, and I definitely want to see the levitation trick. I'll help with the video if you show me how it's done.

I enjoy magic shows, but it's better when they play around and show you some of the tricks, and acknowledge that it's all show and not real magic
