Oh No
Friday, 2005 June 24 - 11:59 pm
Well, it looks like I'll be doing lots of NOTHING for the next few weeks.

I'm an idiot.

About a mile into my run today, I got a sharp pain in my left calf. When I went running on Tuesday, I felt like I had tweaked it a little bit, but I wrote it off as just some soreness. BIG MISTAKE. I can barely walk now; I think it's a strained gastrocnemius, and a pretty bad one. This probably means no running for, oh, a couple of weeks. I don't even think I'll be able to golf.

As I limped a mile back to my car, I did my best to look as pitiful as possible whenever cute girls ran by. But I didn't seem to get any sympathetic looks. I barely rose above the level of "contemptuous scorn". The girls looked at me as if to say, "GET OUT OF THE DAMN WAY, GIMPY." Next time, I think I'll try crawling.

My exercise for the remainder of the evening came in the form of twelve-ounce curls. I call it "beerxercise". Maybe it's no Yoga Booty Ballet, but at least I'm enjoying myself.

Hey, look! I'm on someone's blog-roll under the "humor" section. Cool. Nice to know that some people think I'm funny... but then again, looks aren't everything. HAR HAR, I love that old joke. Okay, that's going to get me kicked out of the humor section.

Time for more a few more reps of beerxercise.

Rock! Thanks for the nod. :-)

Dude, if I had an excuse to not run for weeks, I'd totally milk it. As it is now, I use lame excuses like, "Um... I had too much snack mix for lunch and... um... peanuts and running don't really mix. Yeah. That's it."

You know Ted Bundy totally ruined the "injured male" scam as a way to meet women.

When I read the title of your blog, I instantly assumed that Karen Mann had run another article on you, finishing off what was left of your social life. Fortunately I was wrong!

Hi Sonja! Yeah, I have to admit, it's kind of nice not having to feel guilty about being a lazy potato.

Lisa: Good point. Would it help if I had gallbladder problems? (Hope you're better soon.)

Phil: I think that one article from Karen was enough.
