Happy Birthday, Kim
Thursday, 2005 June 30 - 12:25 am
It's co-worker Kim's birthday, and I'm going to make sure everyone knows it.

I stayed late at work so I could do this:

I've mentioned co-worker Kim a few times. She's one of the hot women that goes out to lunch with me every now and then. She's also one of the hardest-working and most under-appreciated people at my company.

Back when we still had a budget to spend on employee morale, Kim organized monthly "bagel bashes" where we would celebrate all the employee birthdays that month. Kim would get bagels and fruit and muffins and donuts, and lay them out on a table for us. Then she'd gather everyone together, announce the birthdays, and lead us off in singing "Happy Birthday".

A lot of times, less than a third of the company would bother to show up at all. And a lot of the people that came just grabbed a bagel and left without saying a word. After it was all over, Kim would be left behind to clean everything up. She never complained about it.

Tomorrow, everyone at work will know that it's Kim's birthday, because I put up a few dozen little signs like this:

The signs lead to her office door, where people should see this:

Of course, that's assuming the entire building doesn't burn down, because I'm sure THIS is in violation of the fire code:

But if all goes well, everyone will find their way to her office. And hopefully they'll pay Kim back with a little of the appreciation and recognition she's always given to all of us.

Happy birthday, sweetheart.

I also miss the Dancing Hamster and I miss it singing over the public intercom. It was annoyingly cute and funny. :-)

I've already sent her a Happy Birthday Email since I won't be in the office today.

(Hamster voice while most of the people up there with Kim look timid)
Happy Birth-day to you! Happy Birth-day to you!
Happy Birth-day, Happy Birth-day, Happy Birth-day to you!
