More Bush Hypocrisy | Sunday, 2004 July 11 - 12:04 pm |
Aren't Republicans embarrassed about Bush by now? Within moments of the announcement that John Edwards would be the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, the Bush campaign went on the attack. Squatting on the domain name "KerryPicksEdwards.com", they slam Edwards as liberal and inexperienced. That "inexperienced" criticism irks me. If I could get into a debate with Bush, I would ask him: if Edwards is too inexperienced to be vice president now, does that mean you were too inexperienced to be president when we elected you, with only six years as a governor of Texas and no national political background besides your daddy's coddling? Was electing you a mistake? Of course, Bush would be smarmy and dismissive in his usual way. When asked to compare Cheney to Edwards, Bush said: "Dick Cheney can be president. Next." Boy, there's an insightful answer. Actually, there are three scary things about that: one, the thought of Cheney running the country; two, the confirmation that Bush isn't smart enough to answer a complex question with a thoughtful answer; and three, the conclusion that Cheney is already running the country because Bush is an idiot. By the way, I randomly stumbled on this blog when searching for Bush's quote. Funny stuff. So, we've got Mr. My-Dubious-National-Guard-Records-Were-"Accidentally"-Destroyed Bush and Mr. Go-F*ck-Yourself Cheney, and this is the ticket that represents patriotism and family values? We have Americans being killed by Iraqi terrorists nearly every week, and legions of desperate Iraqis signing up to join terrorist organizations, and this means our country is safer from terrorism? We are running up the largest budget deficits in history (which will lead to higher inflation and interest rates) and this means our economy is better? Sheesh. |
