Today's Frozen Meal: Healthy Choice Chicken Red Pepper Alfredo | Monday, 2010 January 11 - 12:38 pm |
From the "Café Steamers" collection: "Chicken Tenderloins with Linguini & Broccoli in Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Sauce" + More packaging cleverness: in the Café Steamers collection, the sauce is in the bottom and the other ingredients are on a colander-like steaming tray on top. This allows the sauce to heat thoroughly without overcooking everything else, and without requiring stirring halfway through. You mix the stuff together at the end. I probably could have made it more presentable if I'd put it on a plate and poured the sauce on top, instead of just mushing everything together. Taste: Pretty good, actually. Although the sauce looked more like melted Cheez Whiz than alfredo sauce, it was reasonably well-seasoned and flavorful. But ConAgra, when it comes to a "roasted red pepper": You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. The steaming tray design helped keep the chicken, broccoli, and linguini from overcooking. The portion size wasn't quite enough to satisfy my appetite, but it was close. Score: 3.0/5.0 Nutrition: Only 250 calories! Good numbers all around; the fiber and vitamin numbers could have been higher, but for they're still good for a small meal. Score: 3.0/3.0 Packaging: No cutting of film, no mid-stream stirring. You do have to combine ingredients at the end, but I'd say the convenient packaging is definitely one of the strengths of this meal. Score: 2.0/2.0 Total Score: 8.0/10.0 |
