Yesterday's Frozen Meal: Smart Ones Teriyaki Chicken and Vegetables
Thursday, 2010 April 22 - 5:49 pm
"Grilled white meat chicken and Asian-style vegetables in a sweet and spicy teriyaki sauce over white rice." Asian-style, eh?

Box

Meal

Okay, are the vegetables "Asian-style" because they include bamboo shoots, or because they're cut up into a particular shapes? I suppose broccoli and carrots could go in a stir-fry, but it's not exactly a quintessential ingredient in a teriyaki dish. I guess that's why it's not "Japanese-style" or "Chinese-style"... just generically Asian.

Taste: Better than I figured this would be, but not great. The chicken and vegetables actually have decent texture, and the sauce is moderately flavorful. But most of that flavor is just soy sauce and sweetener; it sorely needs more ginger. The rice has an instant quality to it. Score: 2.5/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Very low in fat; good overall. Score: 2.5/3.0

Packaging: You have to stir halfway through. Sigh. Score: 1.5/2.0

Total Score: 6.5/10.0
