Today's Frozen Meal: Lean Cuisine Tortilla Crusted Fish
Friday, 2010 July 23 - 4:56 pm
"With rice, poblano peppers & corn in a sour cream sauce". Note that they carefully avoid telling you exactly what kind of fish it is.

Box

Meal

A few decades ago, you'd probably expect to get cod in something like this, but what with all the overfishing of cod, we now get pollock.

Taste: You can pretty much tell it's pollock: it's a cheap, fishy-smelling, fishy-tasting, whitish-grey fish that doesn't seem quite as good as the frozen fish sticks you ate as a kid. That being said, the tortilla crust is decently crunchy, and the side of rice and vegetables is pretty good. It could use a bit more spice, though, and the portion size is a bit small. Score: 2.0/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: A bit high in fat; it must be the sour cream sauce. It's also low in fiber and vitamins. Score: 1.5/3.0

Packaging: You peel the film to expose the fish, but otherwise there's no preparation needed. Score: 2.0/2.0

Total Score: 5.5/10.0
