September 28 Frozen Meal: Lean Pockets Garlic Chicken White Pizza
Wednesday, 2010 October 13 - 12:54 pm
"Grilled white meat chicken, mozzarella, parmesan & fontina cheeses with creamy garlic sauce in a crust."

Box

Meal

So Amy bought these for me just for the irony of the label "culinary creations" on a box of freakin' Lean Pockets. Yes, I can just imagine Auguste Escoffier cooking up a batch of Lean Pockets. Oh, the box also says "Unique flavor combinations like those found on a chef's menu." Srsly? Since when do chefs' menus feature the combination of chicken, cheese, and pockets?

Taste: Not very crisp despite the crisping sleeves. They're chewy and cheesy. There's not much garlic flavor, or any other flavor, for that matter; it's a white, bland lump of exactly what you'd expect from a Lean Pocket. The serving size is one pocket, which is too small; two pockets is pretty filling, though, what with all the dough and cheese. Score: 2.0/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Two servings in the box, but at 127 grams apiece, it seems unlikely you'd just eat one. So for the both of them:
calories: 520
calories from fat: 140
fat:16 g
saturated fat:8 g
cholesterol:50 mg
sodium:1080 mg
carbohydrates:76 g
fiber:6 g
sugar:18 g
protein:24 g
vitamin A:4%
vitamin C:0%
calcium:40%
iron:20%

Yikes. It does has fiber, calcium, and vitamin C, but 8 grams of saturated fat! 1080 mg of sodium! Score: 0.5/3.0

Packaging: Not awful, but it's bit fiddly having to put the things into the crisping sleeves. Score: 1.5/2.0

Total Score: 4.0/10.0. Dismal.
