Weekend Update | Monday, 2005 December 12 - 1:21 am |
Home improvements; and, our company holiday party. It's been a busy weekend for me. I'm trying to get my house in order because I'll be having people come over soon. It's actually been quite a long time since I've had house guests who weren't girlfriends. I've long had the excuse that I was in the middle of renovations, so I couldn't have people over. Of course, that turned into a vicious cycle: because no one was coming over, I never felt motivated to finish my renovations. Well, now everything is just about done, largely thanks to Anna, but with a lot of my own elbow grease as well. New floors are installed. Walls are painted. Fixtures are replaced. Accessories are added. And oh yeah, I don't think I ever mentioned the new patio door I had installed, to replace the shattered sliding glass door from before: That only took three months of procrastinating, and a lot of help from Amy, to get that done. So this weekend I scraped a bunch of goo off the windows of the new door, threw away a bunch of junk, did a little touch-up painting, finished installing the sink hardware in the last bathroom (remember how long ago I started working on THAT?), and made a photo collage to hang on a wall. Most of what I have left to do is cleaning. That will take me most of this week... by now the dust bunnies have organized into small armies, and they're not going without a fight. In other news, we had our company holiday party Saturday night, at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. It was fun, partly because we were well stocked with free alcohol, and partly because some of the cool kids went out for more drinking afterwards. I don't think anything particularly outrageous happened at this year's party. If anything, Amy and I were the most scandalous people there, especially after we walked out of a darkened theater room adjusting our clothes as if we'd just been engaged in some debauchery. For the record, we hadn't... though we certainly discussed the idea with enthusiasm. I didn't bring my camera to the party, but another co-worker brought his Nikon D70 and was snapping lots of pictures. I'll post some once I get my hands on them. |

Don't call it goo. Call it what it is, pressure sensitive adhesive. http://www.duckproducts.com/glossary/tape_glossary.asp |
