A couple of updates. Boy, I think I could really get used to having a cat. Last night Foster acted as my pillow for about half the night, lying down right next to my head. There's nothing like a temperature-regulated, purring, fuzzy pillow to help you sleep. I've been doing some eBay shopping lately. It struck me that we've come a long way from the bad old days of Usenet classified ads. I bought a computer in 1995 over the Internet, a PowerMac 8100 (the top of the line Macintosh at the time), for $3000. I remember dutifully researching the seller's address and phone number to make sure he was legitimate; I insisted on paying C.O.D.; and I checked his name against a list of known fraudulent sellers that people had complained about over the years. It was a lot of work. Nowadays, it's just a matter of glancing at the seller's feedback ratings, and then click, click, you're on your way. I got a set of bar stools for my bar this week, and it was cheaper and more convenient than going to a local store. I also bought, um, the wedding dress that Amy wants... I guess maybe you can take that as a sign we're planning something. But nothing is official yet. Speaking of Amy... she's got a blog, of sorts. She records the conversations of guys who randomly IM her looking for a little "action". It's pretty entertaining. Go on over to assbaggery.blogspot.com and check it out. |
