Okay, I guess I need to explain last Saturday's entry. The post from last Saturday was pretty cryptic, I must admit. And yeah, I can see how you might think it was related to this post. But it wasn't. We were out that night, partying about town as we often do on Fridays. We split off with two of our friends ("Dude" and, um, "Dudette"), leaving them at Lucky B's Around the Corner Bar to flirt with people, the kind of people who were probably former frat boys and sorority girls before they became fast food employees. (Okay, that was wrong. I should not judge. But I'm just not a big fan of this particular bar.) We assumed that D & D would eventually take a cab home. The rest of us went over to our friend Jake's apartment to play some Wii, eat some pizza, and in Amy's case, to fall asleep on a chair. (Best moment: when I woke Amy up to go home, she said, "NO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PIZZA." I told her, "The pizza's already here. And you ate some.") So on our way home, we get a call from another friend informing us that D & D had in fact not made it home, but instead had apparently run afoul of the law. So I called up Dude to see if he needed any help, and that's when the 2:35 AM conversation ensued. We still don't know exactly what transpired. And I certainly don't want to make light of Dudette's legal troubles, whatever they may be. But what was funny about the moment was that, when asking Dude if he needed any help, he couldn't answer in any other manner than to say "I'm so f*cked up right now." Translation: "I have heard your offer for assistance, but in my inebriated state, I can't even come up with a meaningful response, much less figure out any way you might be able to help me. Also it is entirely possible that I don't know where I am. I may or may not be wearing pants." And that's an awfully funny thing to hear at 2:35 AM. Amy insisted that I blog about it immediately, so I did. I will leave Dudette's identity a mystery, but I will say that Dude may have, at one point, demonstrated to us how to drink two beers at once. He is truly awesome. |
