Fifteen Minutes of Fame
Friday, 2005 February 11 - 11:20 pm
It's madness, I tell you. I have had more hits in the last day than I had in the six months prior.

Well, thanks to my mention on Suburban Bliss*, my web page stats now look like this:

That's just nuts. I feel just a little bit phony now, leeching off the goodwill and popularity of others. But hopefully, buying a text ad on their site was a meaningful gesture to them. And maybe some of you were a little bit entertained by something you saw here, and you'll be back to read more. Just a warning, though: I tend to talk about urinals. And every now and then I comment about technology developments that no one cares about but me. But it's my web site, so that's what I get to do. Still, with all this added attention, I feel somewhat obligated to be entertaining. I'll do my best to come up with some good stories over the next few days.

I'm glad that a few of you have left some nice comments here. It's my belief that the blogging community is generally full of kind and supportive people, and I'm seeing that belief get validated. If I could buy you all martinis right now, I would. Anyone here in the Raleigh area, drop me a comment or an e-mail (rkohelp at nc dot rr dot com) and maybe I'll meet you at Dive Bar.

For those of you clicking my "About" page and not finding any useful information about me, I'm sorry. I've been meaning to write more about myself there but I haven't had the chance yet. Keep checking; there'll be something there soon, including maybe even some pictures.

As for Melissa and Logan and their lovely family, I'm going to try not to talk about them too much, because I already feel a little bit creepy for wedging myself into their personal lives. But I'll continue to read Suburban Bliss and I'll continue to wish the best for all of them.

Self Taught Girl just put up this terrific quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!"

Words to live by.

*Don't go to suburbanbliss.net. Someone else bought the domain and Melissa no longer writes there.
