I'm like the 11:00 news, except without all the boring fact-checking. A fascinating University of Michigan study shows that Asians perceive the world differently than Americans. In a comparison between Asians and North Americans of European descent, the study showed that when shown a photograph, Asians were more likely to perceive scenes as a whole (including the backgrounds), whereas the Americans would focus on foreground subjects. The researchers suggest this relates to the Asian philosophy of harmony versus the Western philosophy of "Git-R-Done". The State of Connecticut challenged the federal "No Child Left Behind" law, arguing that it was an unfunded federal mandate. If I were the judge in this case, I would say: "DUH". Bush is now comparing the war in Iraq to the first two world wars. I'm guessing it won't be long before he tries to claim that Saddam Hussein was actually responsible for the German invasion of Poland and France. Robert Moog, a legendary pioneer in electronic music synthesizers (and a North Carolina resident), died today at the age of 71. Dude. Keyboardists of the world thank you. |
