Dating, sex, and peanuts.

In the "I'm Glad I'm Not Still Single" category, Joan Rivers now has an ad on the dating service that rhymes with Snatch Hot Mom. (Supposedly. I checked briefly and I didn't see her profile there.) Can you imagine meeting Joan Rivers for a blind date? Would she immediately criticize what you were wearing? And then turn the date into material a standup routine?

So we DO want kids to eat peanuts? A new study suggests that exposure to pets and peanuts early in childhood does not lead to allergies later in life after all, and in fact, it may help prevent them. One researcher thinks the increased incidents of peanut allergies in the U.S. and the U.K. is not from eating peanuts, but from exposure to peanut oil in lotions. This is one of those things that has got to drive new parents nuts. (Er, no pun intended.) Remember when everyone used to think infants were supposed to sleep on their stomachs?

Hey, kids, she's available again. Debra Lafave, the 25-year-old teacher who had sex with a 14-year-old student, won't be going to prison, after prosecutors in Marion County decided to drop charges in the case. Lafave is already serving three years of house arrest from a conviction in another county.

I'm a bit conflicted about this case. On the one hand, an adult took sexual advantage of a child, and of course that's wrong. On the other hand, that boy will forever consider himself the studliest dude on the planet. I mean, how many kids can say that they got their eighth grade teachers to sleep with them?

A) I'm kinda glad someone else thinks that about the teacher and the eighth grader.

B) It's good to know I will have company in Hell.

Why is it that when I was a kid, no one was allergic to peanuts, and now every single child on Earth can't be in the same room as a sealed jar of peanut butter or all hell will break loose?

Suddenly, I have the urge to go read all my lotion bottles.

What I want to know is why there is that double standard of thinking about molestation in our country? If that was a 25 year old man and a 14 year old girl it wouldn't even be a question of prosecuting, but since people have that "stud" mentality that you mentioned they feel it's no big deal. That woman still abused a position of authority and power and had sex with someone who could in no way be prepared for how huge that action is, especially with a grown adult as the partner. It just makes me sick. The abuse and the prevalent attitude.
