Apple Watch: New MacBook Arrives
Tuesday, 2006 May 16 - 12:41 pm
The much-anticipated 13" MacBook arrives.

Woot!

The rundown: 13" widescreen at 1280x800, 512MB RAM, 60GB or 80GB hard drive, Intel GMA950 Integrated Graphics, Intel Core Duo at 1.83 GHz or 2.00 GHz, and a combo-drive or a SuperDrive. Available models: 1.83 GHz with combo drive and 60GB HD for $1099, 2.0 GHz with SuperDrive and 60GB HD for $1299, and a 2.0 GHz black model with SuperDrive and 80GB HD for $1499.

Yep, even though the 80GB HD is just a $50 upgrade from the 60GB model, the top-end black model costs $200 more. So you're paying $150 for the coolness of black.

I'll have one by tonight. Pictures and first impressions tomorrow.

Tell me what you think of the glossy screen. As far as I can tell, this is going to be the weakest point.

More details tomorrow, but so far I think the screen looks GREAT. Glare would be an issue with a bright light source behind you, but under indoor conditions, the glossy screen really seems to accentuate the contrast.
