Friday's Frozen Meal: Healthy Choice Classic Meat Loaf
Monday, 2010 July 19 - 12:54 pm
"Meat Loaf with Rich Brown Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Corn Blend & Apple Cranberry Multigrain Crisp". I find the spelling of "Meat Loaf" (as two capitalized words) odd, like they're referring to the singer instead of the dish.

Box

Meal

I suppose this is "classic" in the "just like TV dinners from the 1970s" sense, or perhaps "just like what you had in your elementary school cafeteria".

Taste: It's pretty much what you'd expect from an old-school TV dinner: a pressed meat patty, with a salty brown gravy and reconstituted potatoes. The corn is okay; the dessert is the usual apple-with-other-random-fruit crisp. There's some comfort in knowing exactly what you're going to get here, but this isn't something you'll want to eat every day. Score: 2.0/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Surprisingly nutritious, with a whopping 8 grams of fiber. Score: 3.0/3.0

Packaging: Requires cutting the film and stirring ("spoon the gravy over the meat") midway through cooking. Score: 1.0/2.0

Total Score: 6.0/10.0
