November 1 Frozen Meal: Amy's Indian Mattar Paneer | Tuesday, 2010 November 23 - 11:21 am |
"Curried peas & cheese with rice & chana masala; made with organic rice, tomatoes & peas."![]() ![]() I didn't know they carried Amy's organic gluten-free meals at Wal-Mart. I feel a little dirty for having bought this there. Taste: There are really two separate parts to this meal, the mattar paneer (peas and cheese) and the chana masala (chick peas), but it seems to be the same sauce for both. Just as well; the sauce is slightly sweet, lightly spiced, and flavorful. The basmati rice is cooked well, but the chana masala is a bit mushy, and the peas in the mattar paneer seem like ordinary frozen peas. Mattar paneer isn't my favorite Indian dish, but I have to give this meal credit for authenticity. Score: 3.0/5.0 ![]() Nutrition: Relatively high in fat, saturated fat, and sodium; 6 grams of fiber. Score: 1.0/3.0 Packaging: Just had to cut a slit in the wrapper before cooking. The wrapper was a bag which was a little clumsy to open (as opposed to a film), but I'm not going to mark off for that. Score: 2.0/2.0 Total Score: 6.0/10.0 |
