November 23 Frozen Meal: Kashi Tuscan Veggie Bake | Wednesday, 2010 November 24 - 9:41 pm |
"Yellow Squash, Eggplant, Red Onion & Sweet Potato; Kashi 7 Whole Grain Noodles; Zesty Basil Tomato Sauce." Hey, I'm caught up in my reviews, hurray. Taste: Completely vegan, so... that's going to limit the appeal of this dish. It really could use some cheese for both flavor and texture. The sauce is rich and tasty though, with a concentrated tomato flavor and bit of spiciness. It's an okay dish overall and the portion size is adequate, but it just seems a bit lacking, more like a side dish than a full meal. Maybe it just needs some meat. Score: 2.5/5.0 Nutrition: A touch high in fat and sodium; the fat content is disappointing for a vegan meal. 8 grams of fiber though. Score: 1.5/3.0 Packaging: No stirring required. One oddity: the instructions say to put the package on the "outer edge" of the microwave turntable. In our small office microwave, that makes a difference of about an inch and a half. Score: 2.0/2.0 Total Score: 6.0/10.0 |
