Today's Frozen Meal: Healthy Choice Tortellini Primavera Parmesan
Tuesday, 2010 December 21 - 2:20 pm
Hmm, how many Italian words can you string together in one name? They should have added "puttanesca" too. "Four-cheese filled whole grain tortellini, red peppers, zucchini and carrots, in a marinara sauce, topped with parmesan cheese."

Box

Meal

I finally bothered to look up the difference between tortellini and tortelloni, by the way... tortelloni is bigger and often stuffed with vegetables.

Taste: The pasta is a bit overcooked. The cheese inside each tortellini has a processed texture to it, and any cheese flavor you might get is drowned out by the marinara sauce. And the "topped with parmesan" is just a joke; it would really help if they put the parmesan in a separate packet that you could sprinkle on afterward, so the cheese doesn't dissolve into the sauce. Speaking of the sauce, it's slightly tangy and sweet, but thin and runny. The carrots are firm and flavorful, but there are so many of them; they dominate the dish. The zucchini is just okay. Overall it's not very substantial, and it's just mediocre in execution. . Score: 2.0/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Lots of fiber, lots of vitamin A; nothing wrong here. Score: 3.0/3.0

Packaging: Requires peeling the film and stirring midway through cooking. Score: 1.5/2.0

Total Score: 6.5/10.0
