Dating Update: More On The WHB | Thursday, 2005 August 18 - 11:59 pm |
Whoo, I hope I don't jinx this. A few more words about The WHB. Last night I sent her an email telling her she was the LaFawnduh to my Kip Dynamite. There's a couple of reasons behind this statement. First, the fact that we met is partly because I spend unhealthy amounts of time on the Internet. Second, I'm pretty sure she could kick my ass. Third, I believe we're something of an unlikely couple... we come from very different backgrounds. I don't see that last point as a bad thing. Actually, it fascinates me that two people, who are so different on paper, could have such chemistry in person. There's a lot to be said for "chemistry". Some people use that word to mean "attraction", but I think it's more than that. It's being able to understand her jokes, to be fascinated by what she's saying, and just to enjoy being in her company. There's definitely some kind of chemistry between me and The WHB. Another thing that's come to mind recently: occasionally I need a reminder that dating can be fun. I guess I've had too many dates where the girl and I soberly discuss our backgrounds and our plans for the future. By contrast, with The WHB, we spend most of the time goofing around and laughing and indulging ourselves with silliness. That's how a date should be. After all, it's not a financial planning appointment... it's supposed to be a good time. I saw The WHB again tonight, for our second date. It was somewhat impromptu. It was also in violation of a major rule, which is "Don't go overboard too quickly with the dating". But you know what? It was another really good date, so I'm not complaining. Thanks to everyone who wrote in with encouraging words. That's the kind of stuff that makes me really enjoy blogging. You guys all rock. |

Whoo - LaFawnduh! Hey -- can she give me a mix tape I can learn to dance to? Good luck to the bothofyas. Yes, Ken, dating *is* supposed to be fun! |

I am pretty sure the first date is not designed to be fun. But after that...yes fun (if I recall correctly) |

You know it's a match when you break all the rules. Awww, it's so cute! Another movie reference: Pompatous of Love(you might need to spell check that) It's been a while since I've seen it, but this is the gist. The characters are discussing their lists of traits for their 'perfect woman'. The point is made that when you meet the right person it's not that they have all the stuff on the list, but that the list doesn't matter anymore. |
