Things That Happened
Wednesday, 2005 September 7 - 11:59 pm
Catching up on a few things.

First, I want to say thanks to LizD for being visitor number 50,000 some time yesterday. (That's 50,000 pageloads, not 50,000 unique visitors.) I'm not as preoccupied with my web site statistics as I used to be, but it's still nice to watch that odometer roll over.

Today was a nice day. I met Amy for lunch. When it's not officially Amy week, we do what we can to make a little time together. We went to Uno Chicago Grill... the food was good, but the service was slow. I guess there's a blessing in that, though, since it let me and Amy hang out longer.

In the afternoon, there was a North Carolina State pep rally next to our building at work. It was a little bit lame (turnout was low), but there was free ice cream.

And, um, oh yeah, the dance team was there too. I took some pictures, you know, just for the journalism value.

After the not-so-peppy pep rally, Kim and Jessica and I met for a few drinks and to catch up. You know, I really don't spend enough time with these two women, especially considering that they're two of the warmest people I know. So it was nice to get to see them. We're talking about getting a beach trip together: me, Amy, the two of them, and their husbands. See? Now that I'm dating, I get to get involved in couple-y things. And ohhhh, if we can get this trip organized, it will be one SERIOUS party.

With all that happened today, I didn't get a lot of work done during the day... so after drinks, I went back to work for a few hours. It's really quite amazing how much more productive I am after a couple of 22-ounce beers! I should do this all the time. I worked until about 8:30 p.m.

And then, since Amy doesn't live that far from where I work, I decided to drop in on her and steal a little more non-Amy-week time.

So to sum up today's activities: Amy, free ice cream, peppy girls, Kim, Jessica, beer, more Amy. This day could hardly have been any better.
