Girlfriend Update: All Is (Still) Well | Wednesday, 2005 September 28 - 6:55 am |
Nothing to worry about after all. So as it turns out, Amy was not testing me last Sunday; she just wasn't feeling all that chipper, and didn't want me to see her that way. But all is well now. Last night we had a lovely evening of TV and vodka tonics. I'm now appreciating the value of TiVo: I can watch a pre-recorded show ("My Name Is Earl", a surprisingly good show on NBC), record another show ("Boston Legal"), sip vodka tonics, and pay attention to my girlfriend, all at the same time and without worrying about the schedule. Dang, I can't even remember how I managed to juggle girlfriend time and TV time in the past. Of course, now I'm up at 6:30 a.m. trying to squeeze in a little blogging time, and wondering just when I'm gonna be able to watch that "Boston Legal" episode. Would it be bad if I transferred it to DVD and brought it to work? But you know, I'm glad that my life is busy now. I don't feel like having a girlfriend is making me miss out on anything; rather, I feel like it's making my time more productive. I seem to remember a lot of aimless Internet and TV surfing before. Now, I have more of a sense that I'm taking advantage of every moment. There is one way that I'm saving time, too: I no longer feel like I have to jump on every social opportunity, in order to meet women. I mean, I still go out when I can (and now I can bring a date instead of being the fifth wheel all the time)... but I don't feel like I have to. It's quite a relief, really. So. All is well. Ahhhhh. |

I can't believe it's taken you this long to get Tivo! |

Yeah. All those years of fumbling with videotapes. I still have stacks of them with various episodes of "Friends" and "Seinfeld". |
