Even Older Than Before
Tuesday, 2006 February 28 - 8:34 am
Yeah, I had another one of them birthday-thingies.

Well, hello, blog! How have you been? I've been so busy; sorry I've been out of touch. And by "busy", I mean "recovering from a bunch of drinking".

This last weekend was my birthday, so Amy threw me a combination birthday and bar-warming party. Well, FIRST we had a little private celebration, the details of which I'll omit. Hey, look at the cake!

When other people showed up for the party, I was reminded of just how beautiful and fabulous my friends really are. I mean, honestly:

And of course, there's my hunny bunny, the most beautiful of them all:

The glasses we are holding say "AKBAR" on them. Those fabulous things were a gift from my friend Anna, who continues to prove that she's my Best Friend Forever.

Near the end of the party, my memory gets a little fuzzy. I do remember that we finally remembered to bring out cake after two-thirds of the people had already left, and I made some drunken attempt to blow out three little candles:

Since it was also my friend Ann's birthday, she came over to help with the candle-blowing:

I think between the two of us, we eventually managed to get all the candles snuffed.

The last half hour of the party is a complete blur. The funny thing is, I wasn't making myself any drinks; I was just drinking whatever was leftover in the martini shaker when I made other people drinks. I guess that was enough!

p.s. Thanks to Erika, Javi, Earl, Jen, and Steve for calling to wish me a happy birthday! And Earl and Steve, happy birthday to you guys too; I'm glad to say you'll always be older than me.

Jenn: Thanks!

Sarah: I read about your cake adventures. You know, I've still got an entire uneaten cake in my house; if only you and your students could come to my house. Also: I think I've got enough anuses to last me a lifetime.

Thanks, Ken! I will propose your offer to my class on Thursday. Free cake and ample anuses chez Ken. I think we could rent the college van if we all chipped in. I'll bring my own pillow!

...I'll "always be older than you" you, ya whipper-snapper! Young people today! No respect for there elders. When I was your age we didn't have Mac's with Intel chips, or video iPods, we had to make due with the plain old audio kind.
