Happy Post April Fools' Day | Sunday, 2006 April 2 - 10:27 am |
Poking my head out and venturing into the Internet again. Is it safe? I've posted April Fools' day articles in the past, but I couldn't think of anything clever enough yesterday... and I didn't want to write any real posts, lest they be taken as gags. Melissa had a pretty good one. And so did Google. I think the best ones are the ones that satirize yourself. I thought about writing one about how I've come to embrace public bathrooms as my favorite place in the world, but I just couldn't stretch that into a full article. Maybe next year. Hey! It's Daylight Savings Time! While that means I'll have an hour of "jet lag" for the next week, it also means that it'll be daylight well into the evening hours... and that means evening jogging, evening golfing, and evening tennis become possible. Of course, I haven't jogged at any time of day for six months. Golf, it's been about nine months. Tennis, about six years. Oh, and I don't really like tennis. But still, it's nice to know I could play if I wanted to. Of course, the daylight difference in Raleigh isn't as dramatic as it was in Ann Arbor, where I remember it would stay light until nearly 10:00 PM around the summer solstice. (The official sunset in Ann Arbor in late June comes at about 9:15 PM, as compared to 8:35 PM around here.) Mmm, that brings back happy childhood memories of eating barbecued chicken and running around outside, and having it seem like the day could last forever. Anyway, the weather is warm, my tulips are blooming, and it feels like winter is really over. Happy springtime, everyone. |
