More Bad Bush
Friday, 2006 March 3 - 8:06 am
Insert sound of world's smallest violin playing here.

So let's see what we've got here.

There's video evidence that Bush was warned about New Orleans levee breaches from hurricane Katrina before they occurred. There's other evidence that he knew about the levee breaches the night they happened. This contradicts his statements that he didn't know about the levee breaches at the time he said New Orleans had "dodged a bullet".

Republicans are gearing up to block the Bush administration from allowing a company in the United Arab Emirates to take control of port operations for several major U.S. ports. While this is more of an election-year political ploy than anything else, the party rift is certainly an embarrassment for Bush. This will get in the way of some of his administrative priorities for the year.

Support Our Troops? Apparently, not after they're done fighting. Bush's budget proposal includes steep cuts in medical care to veterans over the next several years. This is likely just a sleight-of-hand maneuver; he's probably not serious about these cuts, but wants to make it look like he's serious about deficit reduction. Without cuts like this, there's no way he could meet his budget deficit targets. Still, it certainly doesn't send a very good message to all those troops who risked their lives for his ill-conceived Iraq war.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 34% recently, an all-time low.
