Fight the Power
Thursday, 2005 August 25 - 11:42 pm
I had a strange encounter on today's run.

I finally got a run in. Today's two-mile time: 17:22. I think I could have gone a third mile, but I didn't want to push it, since it's been so long since I last went.

Near the end of the run, a guy passed me going the other way. He had a maroon t-shirt on that looked a lot like mine. He said something to me as he passed, and it was one of these three things:

- "Good job."
- "Good jogging."
- "Gajonga."

I wondered about the possible meanings of what he said. Maybe he was just trying to be a Jogging Cheerleader, and he was out there to provide SPIRIT! If that's the case, then I feel bad that I didn't say "Right back atcha, spunky!"

On the other hand, if he said "Gajonga", then I can only guess that he thought my t-shirt indicated that I was a member of the Maroon Resistance, and he was giving me the secret signal to begin overthrowing the government. If that's the case, then I'm GLAD I didn't say "Right back atcha, spunky" because that almost surely wouldn't have been the correct countersign.

Maybe he said Ganja. Did he ask you if it was 4:20?
