Wonkette is retiring; a California couple leaves their kids home alone; mooning is legal; Texas defeats USC; blonde joke. So, wow, Wonkette is retiring! Or I should say, Ana Marie Cox is no longer going to be the main writer for the Wonkette web site. But they're going to keep the Wonkette name, leading to the obvious question: Is Wonkette without Wonkette still Wonkette? A California couple was arrested on child endangerment charges after they left their two kids, aged nine and five, at home alone while they went on a weekend jaunt to Las Vegas. The kids were left with cereal and frozen dinners to eat, but no supervision or emergency instructions. The couple did, however, arrange sitters for their two dogs. The five-year-old is autistic. The nine-year-old, Joshua, is quoted as saying he believes his parents love the dogs more than him and his brother. Truly a sad state of affairs. I hope these jerks go to the pound-me-in-the-ass prison. Speaking of asses, mooning has been deemed legal in Maryland. I remember a similar ruling in 1997 in North Carolina. That prompted a number of my female friends to have a mooning-fest while we were all driving in a rented van to go to a wedding in Atlanta. Good times. Misery loves company, eh, USC? I stayed up to watch Vince Young score a last-minute touchdown to lift Texas over USC in the NCAA football national title game. Reminded me a bit of what happened to a certain other football team a year ago. Ahhh, the salty tears of defeat... so tasty. Finally, here's a pretty clever blonde joke [via busymom.net]. Enjoy. |

Re: Texas-I was thinking the exact same thing last night. Suddenly I didn't feel as bad about it, knowing that Vince Young could do it against USC as well. Not to mention watching USC do what Michigan raised to an art form this year: take a two score lead into the second half of the 4th quarter and lose. As a parent of two children myself, it really, really disturbs me to see things like this. Some people shouldn't be allowed to raise children. |

At first I thought it was for a couple days. But CNN says it was a 5 day trip. I could imagine being irresponsible enough to leave them for a couple nights. But 5 days just blows my little mind. |
